ABSTRACT

In this article, we will examine the Buddhist community spirit of Cheontae Order and also look into two lines to realize the Buddhist community spirit. In Chapter 2, we learn about the Buddhist community spirit of the Cheon - tae Order. It is clearly expressed in Gyosimun (敎示文), and its content is to edify the people of society well and achieve the Pure Land of the Buddha Field land on earth . There is also a passage that reveals the basic spirit of communal life, which includes emphasizing the spirit of harmony , embrac - ing tolerance and conciliation, and becoming Buddhism of benevolence. In chapter 3, we examine two lines for realizing the Buddhist community spirit. First of all, three fundamental principles are approached from the individual ’s perspective, and their scope gradually expands. This fundamental principles consist the three fundamental principles : the emergence of a bright self , the creation of a bright life, and the realization of a bright society. First, the emergence of a bright self is to reveal Buddha -nature. Second, the creation of a bright life means creating the true value of life, and ten whole- some ways are presented in a specific way. Third , the realization of a bright society means building a bright society through constant edification. And the three great mottos are presented from the perspective of the Cheontae Order. These the three great mottos are comprised of the following items: Buddhism for the Populace, Buddhism in Daily Life, and Patriotic Buddhism. First, Buddhism for the Populace refers to Buddhism that is practiced by the fourfold community. Second, Buddhism in Daily Life means that Buddhism does not exist outside of everyday life. Third, Patriotic Buddhism contributes to improve the happiness of the country and people through Buddhism.
