AB - There is debating whether the capital punishment system is another violence by state power or it is a necessary evil for the public order in Korea. Some people insist that the capital punishment should be used as a tool to restore a harmonizing balance to human society, and others people insist that the capital punishment is too cruel of punishment regardless of the crime. Accordingly, Many political, civic, religious community's members believe to impose the capital punishment on an individual deprives that person of their dignity and insist that the capital punishment should be abolished. Recently, movements are actively inaugurated of the abolishment of the capital punishment system. The purpose of this study is to explore the ethical rationale for the abolition of the capital punishment system based on christian forgiveness. This study is consist of two approach about the capital punishment, Firstly, I have looked about the historical background of the capital punishment. This review are expand our perspective about the capital punishment, and give us critical viewpoint about it. Secondly, I suggested that forgiveness is the very best gift received by God. Actually, forgiveness is not performed easily in daily life. But love and forgiveness based on christian spirituality are stronger than hatred and vengeance. The abolition of the capital punishment system bring Love of Christ into christian forgiveness.
