ABSTRACT

The minimum task of the state is to ensure justice and peace. This is the basis of political theories in the logic of small government theory and large government theory. Ensuring justice and peace, a national task, was derived from the Protestant tradition. Since then, it has been used in modern constitutional order through modern enlightenment and civil revolutions. Luther believes that it is the responsibility of the Church to ensure justice and peace in the world. The role of the church’s preaching and teaching is to watch over the nation to ensure justice and peace. This is the watchman’s role given to the church. The fifth thesis of the Barmen Theological Declaration reiterates that the establishment of justice and peace is the task of the state. In the process of globalization and facilitation, the ecumenical movement extended the establishment of justice and peace beyond the boundaries of individual states and across the globe. Huber understands justice and peace in the same category and extended it globally.
