ABSTRACT

This paper primarily focuses on the nuclearization phenomenon reflected in the MZ generation’s Reunification consciousness and critically analyzes the consciousness of the younger generation, which prioritizes solving the life problems of the ‘precariat’, a group that is more unstable and crisis-ridden than the Reunification discourse. Furthermore, it criticizes the MZ generation’s view of Reunification, which implicitly supports the ‘two-state theory’ on the Korean Peninsula, a view that has recently been spreading. In a meritocratic society, it is understandable that the younger generation exhibits an indifferent and self-centered attitude towards others and distrusts ideological communities such as the nation and ethnicity. However, this study aims to reveal that the younger generation’s optimistic expectation of the ‘two-state theory’ on the Korean Peninsula, based on meritocracy, may in fact increase the possibility of conflict and destruction of living spaces due to the expansion of hatred and a sense of superiority between the two states.
