ABSTRACT

The academic and educational value of mathematics is increasing due to the importance of logical thinking and creative thinking in the future society. As the utilization value of mathematics increases, it is necessary to develop various basic mathematics subjects for students. Therefore, in this study, the design process of mathematics classes developed as liberal arts electives in universities was revealed, and the operation and results of the courses were empirically analyzed. This course was developed in 2019, and the first lecture was opened in the first semester of 2020, and is operated every year in the first semester. In 2020, due to COVID-19, classes were switched to non-face-to-face and the exam was also modified to a non-face-to-face type of assignment. Afterwards, through the course evaluation of students during the three semesters until the first semester of 2022, it was revealed that this subject aroused interest and interest in mathematics and helped to build a mathematical foundation.
