ABSTRACT

In the so-called post-human era, when science and technology are widely spread, the anthropocentric viewpoint seems to lose its validity and is replaced by a scientific and technological viewpoint. Also, in the post-human era, the social and cultural position and meaning of the language arts of literature seem to be significantly reduced. In particular, language arts seem to have given way to visual arts and auditory arts realized by digital science and technology. Above all, in the recent post-human era, the linguistic art of literature seems to be losing its meaning as an abstract and inaccessible object of empathy. The problem is that it is unclear whether the cause of this change is due to the deterioration of the language art itself or whether the post-human era has a new meaning and values ​​of life cut off from the past. Moreover, the post-human science and technology era seems to assert the impracticality and uselessness of literature, which herald the end of the liberal humanistic ideal of Bildung. However, if the post-human era is a new era because it constitutes life scientifically and technologically, it should be clarified that this is more recent han the comparative or symmetric era. In other words, it must be clearly stated that it is a technological and current transformation of human education and life. However, in the historical context, it is easy to see that each era understands its era as the newest and different from the past. Therefore, this problem is not a break from the past due to the novelty of science and technology, but rather an issue of the age of science and technology itself and a change in the meaning and conditions of human life. In this paper, looks at the meaning of Bildung and literature in the so-called scientific and technological post-human era, the purpose of Bildung and literature in the post-human era, and the possibility of meaning formation, through the perspective of combining Bildung and literature.
