ABSTRACT

This paper presents an analytical study of interviews with award-winning students who participated in an essay contest conducted by a university’s General Education Research Institute in Seoul. Our examination focuses on the contribution of the essay contest experience to enhancing students’ writing skills and fostering self-reflection. The results confirm that essay writing promotes and deepens students’ reflective and critical thinking. Additionally, the essay contests provide an opportunity for self-expression and communication, yielding significant educational benefits.
