AB - This paper studies Korean combined postpositions' sorts, use ratios, structures and restrictions by using 10,000,000 word size corpus. By this research this study found 1,004 sorts of postpositions. Among them single types are 228, combined types are 776. They can be combined each other up to 4. But the combined postpositions' use ratio is just 4% in postpositions' whole use. In most cases single types are used. When we see the frequency of use above 10, there are 230 sorts in all postpositions.
In combined postpositions, adverb and auxiliary particles' roles are most large.
To make a combined postposition there is a need of meaning particle, and adverb and auxiliary particle's own meaning can satisfy this need. In addition to that,adverb particle and auxiliary particle's function of giving meaning shows similar level. At the left side of combined postposition adverb particles ‘e, eseo’ and auxiliary particle ‘man’ are prominent and at the right side auxiliary particle ‘un/nun, do’ are prominent.
This study found structural and lexical restrictions that are affecting the combining. The structural restrictions are generally related to case-collision and the location of case particle. And the lexical restrictions are mostly related a vocative case and a declinable word property.
