AB - What’s notable in the aspect of Geumosinhwa’s acceptance of Jeondeungsinhwa is that there is no major narrative paragraph or motif in Geumosinhwa that is irrelevant to the story of Jeondeungsinhwa. The individual literary work of Geumosinhwa rather appears to be a combination of literary works of Jeondeungsinhwa. Gim Siseup leads the readers to read Geumosinhwa through the comparison with Jeondeungsinhwa, and this reading method focuses on understanding the implication of selection, exclusion, and variation that took place between the combinations of literary works of Jeondeungsinhwa.
The five literary pieces of Geumosinhwa are arranged in chronological order of what the writer Gim Siseup experienced, and they are all allegories of what had been considered as taboos at the time. In the case of allegory stories, the author’s intention should not appear on the surface too easily, and at the same time, it should not be too difficult for the readers to grasp. This is why Gim Siseup tried to keep Geumosinhwa within the boundary of Jeondeungsinhwa; that is to say, he hoped that readers would understand the implication of allegory by reading Geumosinhwa through the frame of Jeondeungsinhwa.
