AB - This study analyzes the characteristics of the use of relative adnominal clauses by beginner-level Korean language learners and observes how learners acquire the relative adnominal clause in the early days of Korean language learning. To this end, this study recorded the free conversation of beginner-level Korean language learners 7 times in 5 months and established it as corpus.
85,620 clauses and 11,604 sentences in total are collected, among them 287 cases of transformative suffix are used to create relative adnominal clause. As a result of analyzing the use pattern of relative adnominal clause, the relative adnominal clause started to appear in a full scale at the end of 3 months since learners started to learn Korean, and the frequency and the ratio of relative adnominal clause has increased and the number of speaker expanded over time.
In addition, the increasing number of relative adnominal clause has brought the diversity in predicate type of relative adnominal clause. Next, the accuracy of relative adnominal clause showed the trend of overall high, but there exist the deviations depending on the learners, and it was difficult to consider the trend of accuracy increase is stable. On the other hand, as a result of analyzing the errors of learners, the ratio of syntax error was hight in the early period but the ratio of type error has increased over time. Finally, as a result of analyzing the function of noun phrase in relative adnominal clause, the result was derived in the order of ‘the subjective case> the objective case ≑ adverbial case’, supporting the noun phrase hierarchy hypothesis.
