ABSTRACT

Namsan Park, which symbolizes Seoul and was a popular place for picnics and family outings in childhood, was a place where people spent their leisure time as a cultural space. A cable car was installed in 1962 to attract foreign tourists and enhance the image of the developed symbol of Seoul. Cable cars have become something that many people want to ride as soon as they are installed. Cable cars were recognized as devices that made people enjoy Seoul and Namsan Park better. However, after 1970, cable cars began to be perceived as facilities that could threaten passengers' lives if safety checks were not "thoroughly" conducted. And after the 1990s, it began to be recognized as an installation that destroys the natural ecological environment.
