AB - The purpose of this study was to investigate empirically the impact of formal mentoring on entrepreneurial intention in Chinese university graduates. The mediating role of trust and the moderating role of self efficacy in the relationship between formal mentoring and entrepreneurial intention was also tested. The questionnaire survey was administered to the Chinese university graduates.
The results showed that, first, formal mentoring had a significant relationship with entrepreneurial intention of Chinese graduates. Second, it was found that trust mediates the relationship between formal mentoring and entrepreneurial intention. Third, a moderating role of self efficacy was identified in the relationship between formal mentoring and entrepreneurial intention.
Finally, some practical recommendations for developing formal mentoring and self efficacy for students who want to create business are suggested.
