AB - This study investigated the effect of emotional intelligence of employees on their job satisfaction and affective commitment. The moderating role of positive and negative affectivity at work was also analyzed in the relationships between them.
Based on analysis of questionnaire survey obtained from 179 company employees, it was found that positive relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction, and affective commitment.
The moderating role of positive affectivity in the relationships between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction, affective commitment was not found, but negative affectivity moderated the relationships between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction, affective commitment such that the relationship was weaker in the employees with high negative affectivity.
Finally, some practical recommendations for increasing emotional intelligence and decreasing negative affectivity of employees in organizations were suggested.
