AB - Korean literature translation is very important for a general reader who can not read an original text as well as a writer who wants to attract a much wider readership. A Korean-English translation activation for Korean literature and a big success of translations in English speaking countries overtly depend on translators. Despite the criticality of them, their status falls far of our expectations.
The aim of this study is to provide a beginning of raising a translator's status based on hermeneutics. To do this, this paper looks at precedent studies on Korean-English literature translations and translators, and discusses the discretion of translators as an interpreter who interprets a text on the basis of Gadamer's Philosophical Analytical Theory.
