ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to examine the ecological awareness shown in Korean Protestant denomination’s newspaper. As a research method, we compare and analyze the amount and content of articles that are counted by entering the keyword ‘ecology’ into the online search box of the denomination’s newspaper, that is, the search box of the digital archive. To this end, this paper divides each denomination into progressive, moderate, conservative, and extreme conservative as a working hypothesis of the study. It may not be meaningful to search for the word ‘ecology’ in the search bar and distinguish the measure of awareness about the ecology of the denomination’s newspaper from the simple results of related articles. This is because the year of publication of the denomination's journal and the year of publication of the Internet newspaper are different, and the technical level of the digital archive of the institution is different due to the difference in the size of each denomination and the financial, manpower, and administrative powers accordingly. However, in spite of various variables, it is possible to indirectly grasp the scale of recognition about the ecology of each denomination’s newspaper through the result figures and contents of the 'ecology' related articles of the denomination's journal, and to examine the technical or functional status of each online denomination's journal. It can be said that it has its own significance.
