ABSTRACT

The present study examines Habermas’ concept of “Theory and Practice” with the aim of elaborating his thoughts on the “Self-Reflection of Philosophy.” It assumes that Habermas draws on one of the key concepts of philosophy, which dates back to Aristotle, in order to develop his reflections on the self-reflection of philosophy. Based on this assumption, Habermas’ thinking is reconstructed in three dimensions: first, through the metatheoretical reflection on his own theory; second, through the metaphilosophical reconstruction of the entire history of philosophy; and finally, through the metacritical engagement with various theoretical models, particularly those developed in relation to the discourse of modernity.
