ABSTRACT

This study aims to analyze how young voters perceive and evaluate political morality in the context of media-driven politics. Political communication in modern society has undergone significant changes with the proliferation of digital media and social networking services (SNS). The younger generation acquires political information and forms moral standards by utilizing both traditional media and online platforms. However, the development of media politics has led to issues such as misinformation, the spread of false information, and biased reporting, which can disrupt voters’ moral judgments. This study examines the concept of political morality, the political participation trends of young voters, and the specific criteria they use to assess morality through media. The findings reveal that young voters prioritize values such as honesty, fairness, transparency, and social responsibility in their moral evaluations, making judgments based on political issues or candidates’ policies. Additionally, while young voters primarily access political information through online platforms, they still place significant trust in traditional media when making critical political decisions, exhibiting a dual consumption pattern. The study also highlights that media bias and misinformation can lead to moral judgment failures during the evaluation process. To address these challenges, this study explores institutional strategies to strengthen political morality.
