ABSTRACT

The dispute on delimitation of the border between China and North Korea still remains as a historic issue. In 1950’s, the Chinese government considered the border issue between China and North Korea as a secondary issue under the premise of admitting Gando Treaty. In 1962 when China was facing with difficulties domestically and internationally, North Korea requested to open a meeting to solve border issue with the question of the title to Mt. Changbaek(Baekdusan). At that time, the government leadership had decided to yield it to the North Korea to secure political support of North Korea and maintain “the ties of Brotherhood. Therefore, the boundary treaty between the North Korea and China could be concluded smoothly and rapidly in a few months. As the result of analyzing the approach and result of the boundary issue, it could be evaluated that the relationship between the North Korea and China was normal but didn’t reach to the modern cross border relations.
