AB - This paper classifies the introduction of culture of Chinese character into ancient Japan based on time. Furthermore, this searches the Japanese’s level of knowledge appeared by excavated words and ancient literatures and the action state of Korean immigrants descent thought to be joined in formation of Japanese text culture directly.
First, the text culture of Japan before the ancient times is used in the progress of communication of Chinese character under the East Asian cultural sphere around China or the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, we may assume that as the outside special symbols regardless of the maturity of country and society in the Japanese Islands, this text culture had been used only a limited space like international relations. Also, from excavated historical records and literatures, we can say the period that text culture spreads in local and developed in earnest was after the late 7th century. Also, in the process of Chinese character’s rapid diffusion in local in a short period of time, the culture of Chinese character and the East Asian’s advanced civilization mixed as one and accepted together. This tells that immigrants of Korean descent played an important role not only in operational function but also in mental formation process in local and central government based on learning.
