AB - In this study, a legend and symbol development plan was proposed after classifying them into three types, i.e., applied, transformed and newly made, using the materials of Europe. It is believed that the legends and symbols proposed in this study will be considerably effective in generally identifying the morphological features of topography and the features of geographic distribution on large-scale geomorphological maps. At the same time, it is expected that the results of this study will be utilized as fundamental materials in developing legends for the preparation of ecomaps related to the national natural environment survey conducted by the Ministry of Environment. However, the topography symbols proposed in this study only stress the morphological features of topography, and they have limitations in that it is difficult to comprehensively judge the causes of topography formation of each unit, the development process and the time of formation. Thus, it is thought that they should be supplemented through follow-up studies.
