AB - Naepo region located in the west coast of Sapgyocheon had the most exclaves in Korea during Joseon Dynasty era. Like most regions of the country, its administrative districts were significantly consolidated in 1914. Although many toponyms became extinct in the process of administrative district reorganization, unlike other regions, peculiar types of fossilized toponym became co-exist in eastern part of Dangjin which was Myeoncheongun before, because of the unique regionality of Naepo region. As a result of research, Hongju Bukchang, Hongju Cheonggeum, Deoksanchon, and Bibangguji were verified as examples related with exclave(wolgyeongji) and Beognae(Beomcheon), Changtaek, Gahwa, Deokmeori(Deokdu), Seungseon, and Songol(Sondong) were verified as examples related with administrative district reorganization. In order to preserve the old toponyms which is gradually disappearing, more active endeavor of related officials and researchers is required.
