ABSTRACT

This study inquired into mutual communication point between Sameum-Samyang and Yulyŏ through records. Sameum-Samyang is a technical term of medicine and Yulyŏ is a technical term of music. The Sameum-Samyang is constituted with Tae-eum[太陰]ㆍSoeum[少陰]ㆍGuoleum[厥陰]Tae-rang[太陽]ㆍYang-myong[陽明]ㆍsoyang[少陽] and a standard that prescribes each name and funtion. The Yul-yŏ is the general name that includes Yang-yul and Eum-yŏ. It is also called Ship-i-yul〔十二律〕because of constituted with twelve units including Hwang-jong[黃鐘], Tae-joo[太簇], etc.. And it is an element of constituting Korean music with The five-notes〔五音〕. But there are a few of similarities in two things. Firstly, these two things are specialized by Eum-rang and Five-phases. Secondly, These are composed the same relations as Five-phases to Eum-yang. Thirdly, Each thing is specialized six numbers of yang and six numbers of Eum and the fractional number is the same. The commonness like these will be expected to studying Korean medicine therapy through music.
