ABSTRACT

King Sŏnjo lived quite longer than other Kings in the Chosun Dynasty. But he suffered various diseases like numbness and pain of the limbs, strokes, gastro-intestinal disorders, break-down of the normal physiological coordination between the heart and the kidneys, heart-based heat, tinnitus, impaired hearing, thirst with frequent drinking of water, upper respiratory infections, retention of phlegm and fluid. He probably died of stroke due to pathogenic wind-cold and flaring-up of the heart fire at the age of 57.
