ABSTRACT

Below are the reports abstracted from the study of the life and a commentary study on Wu Kun(吳崑)'S Huang Di Nei Jing, which appears in the research of the main issue. 1. WuKun is one of the medical bachelors during the Ming(明) period. By researching on 『HuangDiNeiJing(黃帝內經)』 and many medical bachelors, he explained the scriptures, relating it with clinic. The study on the original text of 『NeiJing(內經)』 made the contents easily understandable by using the way of mobilizing concise sentences on the title, explaining each volume, and adding explanatory notes on the original text. And books written by WuKun have great value in literature. Through 『SuWenWuZhu(素問吳注)』, he adjusted and explained 『SuWen(素問)』 according to the context so that the readers could understand easily. 2. Below are five reports abstracted from WuKun's study of physiological, pathological, diagnosis, clinical application, acupuncture theories through 『NeiJing』 1) He explained the physiological appearance of the human body by the view of 'YinYangShengJiangChuRu(陰陽升降出入)' and linked it with clinic. 2) About the pathological appearance, he explained the function of 'ZhuangHuo(壯火)', 'ShaoHuo(少火)' and 'SanJiao(三焦)' pathologically. He also helped the practical use in clinic by explaining the pathological mechanism of 'PaiNiaoZhangAi(排尿障碍)' and 'JiuKe(久咳)'. 3) Among the diagnosis theories stated in 『NeiJing』, he easily explained the subject about 'MeiJin(脈診)'. Even with the symptoms such as asthma, he made it convenient to diagnose the 'ZuShi(虛實)' of the five internal organs and the state of the change of diseases. 4) He easily approached to the clinical application by concisely explaining the meaning of the treatment of 'WuXingShengKe(五行生克)', 'TianRenShangYing(天人相應)', 'SaiYinSaiYong(塞因塞用)', 'TongYinTongYong(通因通用)' presented by 『NeiJing』. 5) He explained thoroughly about 'JiuZhen(九鍼)' shown in 『NeiJing』and strongly claimed it's practical use. He presented the theory of 'HouQi(候氣)', 'JianQi(見氣)', 'QuQi(取氣)', 'ZhiQi(置氣)', 'BuDeQi(不得氣)' and separately stated the method of acupuncture due to the climate and constitution along with the 148 treatments such as 'YingSuiBuXie(迎隨補瀉)', 'MuZiBuXie(母子補瀉)' etc. Also, by selecting the 'JiaoHuiXue(交會穴)' of 'QiJingBaMai(奇經八脈)', he presented the way of treating the disease of the twelve meridians(十二經脈) and 'QiJingBaMai'. WuKun claimed to 'ZhenYaoBingJhong(鍼藥幷重)', and said that in the treatment of diseases, acupuncture and drug use are both essential and the main principle is the same. He claimed to combine in the use of both indeed because 'WuShuXue(五輪穴)' works identically with the theory of the treatment of the five internal organs(五臟治療) through 'WuWeiYunYong(五味運用)' of the drug, and since it's more efficient applying drugs for 'XuZheng(虛證)' and giving the acupuncture-moxibustion treatment(鍼灸治療) for 'ShiZheng(實證)'. 3. Among the teachings of the previous medical bachelors, WuKun attached importance to the theory of 『NeiJing』 WangBingZhu(王冰 注), and LiuWanSu(劉完素), ZhangYuanSu(張元素), LiDongYuan(李東垣), ZhuDanXi(朱丹溪) of the JinYuan(金元) period. He used 'ZhuangShuiZhiZhu, YiZhiYangGuang(壯水之主, 以制陽光)' theory of WangBing(王冰) in order to treat the 'XhangHuoZhiQi(相火之氣)' used the theory of ZhangYuanSu to 'ZhiRe(治熱)' and found the way to treat 'SiShiWenBing(四時溫病)' through it. He also took advantage of LiDongYuan's 'PiWengShengJiang(脾胃升降)' theory to cure spleen-stomach disorders and followed the theory of 'YangChangYouYu(陽常有餘) YinChangBuZu(陰常不足)' of ZhuDanXi when treating 'QiZheng(氣證)' and 'LiuYuZheng(六鬱證)'. As we can see above, the medical thoughts of WuKun(吳崑) deeply influenced Oriental Medicine, and deepened the theory in the field of the adding explanatory notes to books(經典註釋). We hope that a more profound research on WuKun in the future
