ABSTRACT

Since social media is a hedonic information system, enjoyment should be a key variable in social media research. However, despite this necessity, research on enjoyment in the social media environment is still in its initial stage, and in particular, research on the antecedent variables of enjoyment is scarce. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between enjoyment and use of interaction controls as an antecedent variable of enjoyment. To this end, the study establishes and empirically verifies the theoretical mechanism of the relationship between these two variables based on self-determination theory. The study conducted a survey to collect data. As a result of the study, this study found that the use of interaction controls affects enjoyment through the primary effect on relatedness need satisfaction and autonomy need satisfaction. Based on these results, this study discusses theoretical and practical implications and explains the limitations of the study.
