ABSTRACT

This study optimizes an integrated NH₄OH direct-injection nozzle and static mixer design for coal-fired SCR systems to enhance NOx removal efficiency while minimizing ammonia slip. Through multiphysics CFD analysis coupled with Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA) validation, we achieved NH₃/NOₓ molar ratio uniformity of 8.3% RMS, velocity distribution uniformity of 2.7% RMS, temperature deviation of ±0.4°C, and total pressure loss of 110.0 mmH₂O, surpassing all design targets. The optimized configuration demonstrated 2.7 times higher velocity uniformity and 25 times greater temperature homogeneity compared to conventional systems. By eliminating urea decomposition reactors and implementing a synchronized nozzle-mixer design, this approach reduces system complexity while ensuring operational reliability under dynamic load conditions, providing a practical solution for industrial NOₓ abatement.
