ABSTRACT

This study aims to examine university students’ intention to disclose personal information in digital learning environments. With the proliferation of data-driven education increasing the value of learner data, it has become imperative to explore the privacy concerns and decision-making factors of students. To achieve this, online survey was administered to 179 university students. The results are as follows: First, students exhibited more positive attitude toward disclosing information when offered tangible benefits. Second, regarding information types, participants displayed a highly defensive stance overall Third, among self-determination factors, autonomy significantly predicted concern of information collection and control, whereas relatedness only partially predicted the concern of transparency. This study proposes strategies for educational transformation regarding learner data to build a digital learning ecosystem, moving beyond normative consent procedures.
