ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to identify factors influencing nursing professionalism of nursing students. Participants consisted of 234 nursing students who had experienced clinical practice over one semester at one university located in C Province. Data were collected using a questionnaire which consisted of nurse image, clinical learning environment, major satisfaction, and nursing professionalism. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, frequency, %, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe’ test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression through IBM SPSS Statistics Version 29.0 program. Factors influencing nursing professionalism were nurse image(p<.001), clinical learning environment(p=.041), major satisfaction(p<.001), clinical practice(satisfaction)(p<.001), and clinical practice(moderate satisfaction)(p=.002). The construction of a multiple regression model revealed an adjusted R2 of 0.56 with nurse image serving as the major predictor variable for nursing professionalism. In order to establish a proper nursing professionalism in nursing students, a multi-dimensional strategy is needed to develop curricular and extracurricular nursing education programs that can enhance the image of nurses and increase satisfaction with majors and clinical practice, and to establish a positive clinical learning environment.
