ABSTRACT

Human errors such as position and sequence errors, incorrect torque, and missed fastening can occur in bolt fastening processes in manufacturing environments. This study designs and implements a bolt fastening assurance system that integrates a CAD-based 3D digital twin with dual torque and vision verification. The proposed system performs CAD-based process management, torque verification using a digital torque wrench, and vision verification based on ROI comparison of pre- and post-fastening images. An interlock allows transition to the next process only when both verification results are normal. Repeated tests in a virtual environment using scenarios including torque errors, missed fastening, and sequence errors confirmed the feasibility of the proposed system for fastening error verification and management. This study verifies the functional feasibility of a CAD-based fastening assurance architecture prior to integration with physical hardware.
