ABSTRACT

This study reconceptualizes Empathy, Attentive Curiosity, and Entertainment from the PEACE model as users’ perceived social and emotional qualities of ChatGPT and integrates them into the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Survey data from 194 ChatGPT users were analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results show that Attentive Curiosity has significant positive effects on both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. In contrast, Empathy has no significant effect on perceived ease of use and shows a significant negative effect on perceived usefulness. Entertainment has no significant effect on either perceived ease of use or intention to use. All core TAM relationships are supported. These findings suggest that social and emotional chatbot qualities are not uniformly associated with technology acceptance; rather, qualities that are more directly linked to understanding and supporting users’ needs may play a more consistent role.
