AB - 본고에서는 철학전문 대역사서인 哲學字彙(이하, 본서)초·재판에 있어서의 학과명 주기가 부가된 번역어를 고찰하여 아래와 같은 결과를 얻었다.
학과명 주기는 본서(초판)를 전후하여 나타나기 시작하며, 본서 이후가 되면 보다 체계적이고 조직적으로 행해지게 된다.
재판에서는 학과 소속이 변경된 번역어가 상당히 존재하는데 이는 당시 각 전문용어가 정비되어 있지 않았음을 말해준다. 또한 재판에서는 학과명 번역어가 72어 증가하나, 그 대부분은 「Bill議案(政)」처럼 학과명 번역어 자체를 위한 증보여서 편자들의 타 학과에 대한 높은 관심을 엿볼 수가 있겠다.
본서가 대역사서에서 받은 영향을 보면 英華字典(종교 분야)이 가장 눈에 띈다. 중국에서는 일본보다 한 발 앞서 영어 관련 사서의 편찬 및 번역 등이 행해졌기 때문에 약간 늦게 출발한 일본이 그 영향을 받은 것으로 보여진다.
英和雙解字典 및 和譯字彙의 번역어는 본서의 영향을 많이 받고 있다. 이는 양 사서의 편자인 棚橋一郞가 명치시대 최초의 철학잡지인哲學會雜誌에 기고하고 있음에서 예상할 수 있듯이 철학분야에 강한 관심을 보이고 있으며, 이는 본서 번역어의 적극적인 채용과 관련있다고 보여진다.
본서에서는 학과명 번역어가 정비되어 있지 않았던 시기에 독자적으로 다수의 전문용어를 채용하고 있어, 본서의 일본어사적인 의의를 더욱 높여주고 있다.
