AB - 본고는 1914년에 改編된 京城府 中區의 通․町과 그 하부단위인 65丁目을 대상으로, 行政單位에 관한 것(abc), 朝鮮地名의 承繼有無(가나), 造語法(1234, ①②③), 上下, 方位, 順序라는 세부항목으로 分類하여 고찰하였다. 그 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다.
먼저 行政單位에 관한 것(abc)은 朝鮮時代에 ‘洞, 里, 村, 橋, 井・・・골’ 등으로 사용하던 行政單位를 2通․36町과 그 하부단위인 65丁目으로 통일하였다.
이를 朝鮮地名의 承繼與否에 따라 나누면, 朝鮮地名을 承繼한 것이 14개, 새로 만든 것이 51개로 나타난다. 이 중에서 朝鮮地名을 承繼한 지명 14개는 그대로 承繼한 것 이 3개, 두 지명을 合成한 것은 없었으며, 대표적 지명을 承繼한 것이 10개, 漢字의 表記만 바꾼 것이 1개로 나타났다. 새로 만든 지명 51개는 주변 地形地物과 관련이 있는 것 이 24개, 주변 地形地物과 관련이 없는 것이 25개, 두 地形地物을 合成한 것이 2개로 나타났다.
또한 上下・方位・順序에 따른 분류에서는 上下에 따른 분류는 나타나지 않으며, 東西南北에 따른 분류가 4개, 一二三 등에 따른 분류가 40개로 나타났다.
光復 이후 1946년의 변화를 살펴보면 아래와 같다.
먼저 通, 町, 丁目으로 끝나는 行政單位는 倭式洞名이라 하여 光復 이후 각각 路, 洞, 街로 改稱되었다. 단지 黃金町一丁目～七丁目만이 乙支路一街～七街로 改稱되었다.
光復 이후 65개 지명 중에서 日帝强占期의 지명을 承繼한 것이 22개, 새로 바꾼 것이 43개로 中區의 改稱率이 높다는 것을 알 수 있다. 日帝强占期의 지명을 承繼한 지명 22개도 朝鮮時代의 지명을 承繼했던 지명이 10개이며, 日帝强占期에 새로 만들었던 지명이 12개이지만 이들 지명은 주변의 건물이나 자연환경, 地形地物에서 딴 것이므로 위화감없이 承繼된 것이다. 바꾼 지명 43개는 朝鮮時代의 지명으로 되돌린 지명이 27개이며, 새로 만든 지명이 16개인데, 새로 만든 지명은 光復 직후라는 역사적 배경으로 인해 國家守護的 이미지를 띄고 있다.
