AB - 본고에서는 국면동사의 구조와 의미를 밝히는 기초 연구로서 선행연구를 토대로 ‘종료’를 나타내는 복합동사의 구조와 의미에 관련된 제반 문제들을 검토해 보았다. 향후 국면동사의 연구는 다음과 같은 <구조>, <의미>, <기능>의 3가지 관점에서 고찰 연구되어야 한다.
첫 번째 <구조>의 측면에서는 국면동사 내부의 구성요소간의 구조와 의미 관계를 밝히는 일이 중요하다. 복합동사는 그 형태와 구조, 의미 모두 이원적이기 때문에 국면동사를 포함하여 복합동사의 어 구조를 고찰하는 가장 실천적인 연구 방법은 용례조사를 토대로 전항동사와 후항동사의 의미 관계를 고찰하는 일이다.
두 번째로 <의미>의 측면에서는 국면동사에 대해서는 형태적인 레벨에서의 의미 고찰뿐만 아니라 통어적인 용법, 텍스트상의 의미까지를 총합적으로 연구 고찰해야 한다. 이것은 국면이 화자에 의해 선택된 내적 과정의 한 부분으로서 화자의 내적 과정에 대한 시점의 차이를 반영하고 있기 때문이다.
마지막으로 <기능>의 측면에서 국면동사의 의미의 본질과 차이는 어디까지나 국면동사간의 유기적인 관계 속에서 비교 고찰되어야 한다. 국면동사의 텍스트상의 가장 큰 기능은 특정 운동의 국면에 초점을 두게 함으로써 해당 사건이 이제까지의 전개 또는 앞으로의 전개에 있어서 다른 운동들과 밀접한 관계가 있다는 것을 강조하는 것이다. 따라서 텍스트상의 상호 유기적인 시간관계에 주목하면서 국면동사간의 의미와 용법, 기능을 총체적으로 비교 검토해 나가야 한다.
본고에서는 이와 같은 관점에서 ‘종료’를 나타내는 복합동사에 대한 가설을 세웠으며 향후 제 문제점을 검토하면서 각각의 의미의 본질과 차이를 밝혀가고자 한다.
