ABSTRACT

The recent way of the education has been requiring the change for self-directed learning that is a unsupervised learning by learner, not the education for the transfer and acquisition of knowledge that is a teaching by rote. Various learning method has been studied and suggested for foreign language learner, but there is a few case that is applied at the educational practice. Storytelling has been studied and applied at the field of foreign language education for last decades. Although reported as a effective way, traditional storytelling need additional survey regarding a learning method because language education have to take into consideration the expressive function of language as well as understanding about their culture, life and history. The goal of this research is to inspect the digital storytelling and education theater and suggest the education model to improve the learning effect. Digital media has the interactivity among the member, and can attract voluntary participation from learner through cyber space. This mean OM(open method) that is ultimate goal of our education method. Digital media make it possible to gather and exchange the necessary material, also discuss and revise the whole work in the cyber. Education theater help us the understanding of foreign cuture and life. This paper is to suggest the learning model combined the digital storytelling and education theater and evaluate its effect with statistical evaluation technique(paired sample t-test).
