ABSTRACT

This paper discusses the Sino-Japanese Kana notion of characters that belong to the Jiang(江) and Dang(宕) group s among 2,136 new common Sino-Japanese characters(2010) in six Sino-Japanese dictionaries, and the following conclusions were drawn. 1)The second rhyme Jiang(江) appears as an -au/-aku type and -ou/-oku type in Go’on. Accordingly, there are many mistakes in the Kana notions of Go’on in many dictionaries and the -ou/-oku type was described as a Kan’yo’on in some dictionaries. 2)The first rhyme Dang(唐) appears as an -au/-aku type in both Go’on and Kan’on. But, its Go’on was described as a -jau/-jaku type in some dictionaries. 3)The B type(containing medial ï) of the third rhyme Yang(陽) appears as an -au/-aku type in Go’on and appears as a -jau/-jaku type in Kan’on. But, two types appear in both Go’on and Kan’on due to palatalization of consonants [s] and [z] in Japanese. Accordingly, there are many mistakes in Kana notions in many dictionaries. 4)The A type(containing medial i) of the third rhyme Yang(陽) appears as a -jau/-jaku type in both Go’on and Kan’on. But, it appears as an -au/-aku type with the consonants of [n], [l], [s], [z]. This -au/-aku type is an old Kana notion of transfer that settled as a Japanese phoneme. Accordingly, the third rhyme Yang(陽) can be as a -jau/-jaku type in both Go’on and Kan’on, and only those remaining as an -au/-aku type until now can be prescribe as a Go’on. 5)The rounded syllable(containing medial wï) of the third rhyme Yang(陽) appears as a -wau/-waku type in Go’on and appears as a -wijau/-wijaku type in Kan’on. But, the old type of Kan’on was recorded as a -jau/-jaku type in every dictionary and the old type of Go’on was recorded as an -au/-aku type in some dictionaries.
