AB - This study is to suggest the honorific language education by stage for Korean who learns Japanese. So far, the Japanese language education in Korea has been based on the honorific system of the Japanese school grammar. However, it is not easy for learners to understand complicated sentences with only honorific language / Humble language / courteous language, which are the traditional honorific language classification.
The honorific language of school grammar is focused on "who is respected". On the contrary, Watanabe honorific language is based on "to whom do you show the respect" among target person, and it emphasizes the development of listener oriented honorific language in Japanese language. Focusing on this point, this study describes which relationship lies between the honorific language structure and gramma of Japanese language based on Stylistics of Izuhara and honorific language classification of Watanabe.
It is necessary to make learners understood that "relative honorific", "polite style", which are the characteristic of Japanese honorific language, and "exceptionally polite style", are involved in "honorary language to show the respect to the listeners" in the phased honorific education for the Japanese learners. Next, the relation sequence and person among the three categories of human relations "Uchi/Soto/Yoso" should be considered in order to use honorific language by judging to whom the speaker will show the respect.
If the above steps and structures are applied to the Japanese language education, it is considered that the learner can understand the Japanese honorific language and reduce misuse.
