ABSTRACT

In this paper, we analyzed the differences between the two groups by comparing the Vocabulary used in the writing of advanced learners and native speakers based on 'commonality'. The results of the comparison of the aspects of the two sides after grasping the commonality of each word for the vocabulary of the composition written by the native speaker group and the learner group are as follows. First of all, when we look at the distribution of commonality, the learner group shows a higher ratio in the amount of vocabulary with the highest commonality as a whole, except for nouns. On the other hand, in the case of vocabulary with a commonality of 1, the proportion of the native speaker group was high. There are also some words that show significant differences between the native speaker group and the learner group in the commonality ratio: The native speaker group shows a higher ratio with such words as ‘点’, ‘考える’, ‘確か’, etc., while the learner group shows a higher ratio with such words as ‘今’, ‘思う’, ‘もう’, etc. As a result, the learners have many words that are 'universal' among the vocabulary used when compared to the native speakers, and the diversity of individual vocabulary is lower than that of the native speakers.
