ABSTRACT

The number of 5A scenic spots in China, which are designated as the highest level of tourist attractions, has risen to more than 300, and a large number of domestic and foreign tourists come to visit them every year. However, there are too many errors in foreign language translation such as guides and introductions of such tourist attractions, and in some cases, there are many possibilities that hinder tourists' understanding of their contents. This paper selects five Chinese-Japanese translation errors and inappropriate Japanese expressions in three famous tourist attractions in China, and attempts to make a detailed mistranslation and misuse analysis of the full text. The results show that, especially the misuse of words is obvious. In the case of complex sentences, there are many errors that the former clause and the latter clause cannot echo smoothly and continuously. This is because both Chinese and Japanese belong to the same circle of Chinese characters, and translators unconsciously bring Chinese words and expressions into Japanese. Furthermore, the unsmooth cohesion between clauses and between sentences also causes a lot of negative transfer in Chinese. In addition, the irresponsibility of Chinese local administrative departments and appointed translators is also considered to be one of the important factors leading to these kinds of translation errors.
