ABSTRACT

This study aims to investigate the impact of Japanese culture and language events held at Lapulapu-Cebu International College, an institution active in international exchange, on Japanese learners' motivation and differences in outcomes according to the type of events. A questionnaire based on the ARCS model was used to examine the influence of these events on motivation. The findings revealed that the events contribute to motivation by providing opportunities for Japanese language learning and that many students expressed a desire to continue such events. However, the results indicated that differences in outcomes based on the type of events were not particularly significant. Challenges remain, particularly with "language-learning-focused" events, including insufficient survey data and effective methods to support learners at different proficiency levels.
