AB - In modern university education, Japanese debate activities have garnered attention as a significant learning method that fosters language proficiency, logical thinking, collaboration skills, and persuasive expression. This study analyzes learning effects on students who participate in Japanese debate classes at Korean universities, as well as in external competitions and academic festival model debates. The findings reveal that Japanese debate extends beyond mere language learning to enhance logical reasoning and teamwork, allowing participants to experience personal growth and recognize the importance of collaboration.
Data research, argument construction, and rebuttal preparation during the debate process improved participants' information analysis and critical thinking skills, forming a foundation for academic and professional development. Additionally, collaboration with participants from diverse cultural backgrounds fosters mutual respect and an appreciation for multifaceted perspectives.
To further advance debate activities, the study highlights the need to diversify topics and formats, strengthen support systems for beginners, and establish feedback structures that allow for continuous utilization of learning outcomes. This research suggests that Japanese debates provide participants with opportunities for comprehensive growth beyond language acquisition and contribute to cultivating talents capable of playing key roles in multicultural societies.
