This study conducted a qualitative analysis of how the participation of a side-addressee(a second listener) affects rapport management during a discourse of opinion negotiation when the speaker and listener are in opposition. The results showed that, in both the Japanese native-speaking university student data and the Korean native-speaking university student data, the second listener participated in the conversation by expressing support for either the speaker or the listener, forming a 2-to-1 relationship. From this, it was suggested that for Japanese native speakers, prioritizing "Interactional focused management" during opinion negotiation discourse helps facilitate smooth communication. In contrast, for native Korean speakers, prioritizing "Individual-focused man
