ABSTRACT

The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the main reasons of stress in South Korean adolescents, to introduce three stages of stress, and to explore some effective solutions to the stress. The main method of this study is to choose the content of reference books and to introduce some cases of counseling simultaneously. The major content for this study to deal with consists of four main reasons of stress and the items are as follows. First, too much schoolwork. Secondly, physical disease. Third, family problem between adolescents and their parents. Fourthly, internet addiction of South Korean adolescents in the 21st century. The content of each chapter is as follows. The first chapter deals with the definition and stage of stress. The second chapter consists of four main reasons of stress in Korean adolescents: too much schoolwork, physical disease, family conflict and internet addiction. The third chapter deals with the issue of stress diagnosis. The final chapter makes a presentation some effective solutions to the stress in the center of counselor’s role. In relation to the issue of adolescence growth, Luke 2:52 says as follows: Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Growth can accompany crisis and stress but we need to remember this thing as well: adolescents will be able to grow even through various stress.
