ABSTRACT

The purpose of this article is to help the counselors who try to give the biblical counseling to the old people who are suffering from aging anxiety. Today the problems of aged people are rapidly increasing because of longer life span than ever before. Therefore, counselors cannot fail to notice the problems of aging anxiety. This article observes the topic of aging anxiety and the purpose of the biblical counseling for the problem. Especially it takes a close look at the physical, economical, and social changes caused by aging. The causes of aging anxiety are as follows: the loss of health and finance, the pain of bereavement, the change of role, the lack of personal relations, death. On the basis of this kind of study, this article discusses the applicable principles of the biblical counseling for aging anxiety by means of examining the existent scholarly works. The principles are as follows: listening to the story, healing the emotion with the Bible and searching for the meaning of life and practicing it. If the biblical counselors use these applicable principles, they will experience successful results. As a result, it is expected that this article gives some practical helps to the professional counselors or ministers who want to help the people suffering from the aging anxiety with the biblical and effective counseling.
