ABSTRACT

Child maltreatment in Korea is occurred and repeated by parent. In this study the phenomena of child maltreatment is studied on the cases reported through news. The reasons and effects of domestic violence is examined and the treatment and prevention of it is searched. The circumstances of the violent family is characterized as highly stressful, lack of time and money for family wellbeing. Violent parents are raised under similar situations, as a result, they don't have proper role model of parent. They hardly managed to make living, make understanding for each other in the family because they have not enough chances of revealing their thinking and emotions. They easily burst into violent anger projecting their own frustrations, and maltreatments to their children in the name of disciplines. Child maltreatment negatively influence child in the process of personality formation, value system and human relationships. Here, the family systems therapy method that looks family not in pathological perspective, but focuses on enhancing their positive interactions to develop loving relationships, is introduced as a way to approach violent family. It cultivates mutual dedication and love and differentiation through enhancing efficient communication to understand each other by using family life-storytelling method through family game at the time of encounter with violent family.
