ABSTRACT

This study, Confrontation is not a confront skill paying close attention and using it at the right moment while holding fast to a client’s attitude for the client’s awareness and insight. It has a conditional meaning for a more frequent use. The study investigated the meaning of what the confrontation the client experienced in the counseling process would cause changes in the meaning. This study proposes three domains(sin, motivation, relationship) of confrontation to promote essential changes and measures for the conditional utilization of the confrontation skill for a more frequent use. As a result of the study, in the client, the improvements of self-understanding, self-reflection, self-acceptance, the understanding of others, control ability, positive attitude, and motivation for change and growth occurred through confrontation. And it turned out that it was effective when the client voluntarily chose confrontation with enough recognition of confrontation skill. In addition, it became the foundation on which the experience of confrontation in three domains would bring about dynamic changes. Thus, the confrontation object and the area of confrontation are important, generally instead of the time of its use. And it seems that it would be more important to broaden the total amount of changes through the quantitative amount of confrontation. In conclusion, it is emphasized confrontation conditions can be used more frequently, so it is emphasized to actively use that.
