ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the usefulness and limitations of emotional - centered empirical approach to Christian counseling. As the research method, I adopted qualitative case study method based on single counseling case and used case studies tailored to short-term counseling forms as analysis data. In this study, an effort was made to check how effective a particular intervention strategy called empirical technique is in achieving the purpose of Christian counseling, how it can fit into the Christian worldview, and how the core concepts such as the Holy Spirit ministry can be realized. As a result, the intervention strategy of emotional experience turned out to increase the congruence between the conceptive and empirical aspects of the client's self-awareness and contact, helping to alleviate symptoms as well as spiritual growth. The spontaneity of the client and the utilization of resources actively arise, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the here and now experience can be observed. But this research has limitations in that it is not free from the subjectivity of our personal experience, that it can not implement the counseling process starting with the central theme of the Bible, and that it does not allow us to deal fully with the essential parts of human beings.
