ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is to confirm the relationships between ruminative thinking, the trait meta-mood, and the sense of generation and to find out the mediating effect of the trait meta-mood in their relationships. Also, it had been analyzed as to whether Christianity adjusts such relationships. For this, by selecting 460 adults in their middle years of the life who had been residing in Seoul and the capital city region and by carrying out a questionnaire survey investigation through an SNS with a standardized survey questionnaire, 448 copies among them had been analyzed. As a result of the analysis, firstly, it appeared that the rumination in the ruminative thinking has a negative influence on the sense of generation, and it appeared that the reflection has a positive influence on the sense of generation. Secondly, it appeared that the rumination in the ruminative thinking has a negative influence on the trait meta-mood, and it appeared that the reflection has a positive influence on the trait meta-mood. Thirdly, it appeared that the trait meta-mood has been playing the mediating role between the ruminative thinking and the sense of generation. Fourthly, it appeared that Christianity plays the adjusting role in the relationships between the ruminative thing, the trait meta-mood, and the sense of generation. This research has the significance with regard to the point that it had discussed about the ruminative thinking, the trait meta-mood, and the sense of generation in the middle-age transition period, it had grasped the structural relationships between the variables that have the influences on the sense of generation of the adults in their middle years of life, and it had proposed the need for the counseling intervention for the improvement of the sense of generation of the adults in their middle years of life.
