ABSTRACT

The purpose of this thesis is to develop a Christian parent Education program using cinema therapy based on Birgit Wolfz (2006)‘s Cinema Therapy theory, Horace Bushnell (2004)’s Christian Nurture theory and John Gottman (2007)'s Emotional Coaching theory and to investigate its effects. This program were conducted expert validity investigation and preliminary research, and the participants were selected Christian parents with school aged children 9 to 12 at the C/D church in C city. The participants were divided in two groups of 15 people each that were alloted randomly. One is a test group and the other is a control group. The program were conducted two sessions a week, 120 minutes per session and total 12 sessions. Data analysis was performed using the IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25 program, In conclusion, the Christian parent education program using cinematherapy developed by this researcher proved to be statistically significant in the parenting behavior, parent-child communication and spiritual well-being of Christian parents. Therefore, the Christian parent education program using cinematherapy suggests that it is an in-church viable program that can help improve spiritual well-being through communication with children based on the professional knowledge of parenting of Christian parents.
