AB - The purpose of this study was to present the direction of Christian counseling for grandparent-headed family in the future by analyzing the trends of the relevant research published in Korean journals since 2010.
As a result of analyzing the studies on grandparent-headed family since 2010 the “professional counseling that strengthens family functions” of grandparent-headed family was the core of the latest research trend and it came from the perspective of seeing them as A family type.
Accordingly, in order to understand the family function through the Bible containing the essence of the family, the book of Ruth was examined, and the biblical family function of “family continuity” and “restoration of rest through care” was derived. Therefore, Christian counseling for grandparentheaded family should be directed toward helping them regain these two functions. Specifically Christian counselors can encourage for their contribution to the continuity of the family, promote voluntary care and help them to unite with the community. And it is proposed to apply to case conceptualization. This study is meaningful in that it examines the nature of family counseling for grandparent-headed family and the specific application of the improvement of biblical family function through the latest trends in the study of grandparent-headed family.
