ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effect of resilience and transcendence self in the relationship between Christians distress tolerance and the existential well-being. For this study, 315 Christians were selected for the sampling of this study and randomly collection was conducted. The data collected were analyzed using the PASW(SPSS Win. 20) Statistical Package Program. The statistical analysis methods used were analyzed with frequency analysis, correlation, and SPSS Process Macro Model 6. The results of this study are as follows: First, distress tolerance has a negative correlate existential well-being, resilience and transcendence self and then existential well-being, resilience and transcendence self has a positive correlate to each other and this result has a statistically significant level(p<.001). Second, distress tolerance had negative effect on existential well-being. In addition, this result has a statistically significant level(p<.001). Third, in the relationship between Christians distress tolerance and existential well-being, resilience and transcendence self have a dual mediating effect. In addition, this result has a statistically significant level(p<.001). The results of this study suggest that distress tolerance, resilience, and transcendence self are important factors that affect the existential well-being of Christian and also this study suggests that Christian faith can be higher level of distress tolerance.
